Graduate Alumni 2012

Danielle Verena Kollig graduate with a Ph.D. from the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures in May 2012, with a dissertation titled Images of Transsexuality in Philosophy, Theater, and Film: Nietzsche, Brecht, Fassbinder. She is currently teaching German Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the Universities of Richmond (FS 2012) and the University of Virginia (FS 2013). Verena’s research interests are located within gender and media studies as well as in modern Germanic literatures, and she is currently developing a pedagogical research project on queer methodologies in teaching (project title: "Raising Awearness: How Students Approach Diversity while Studying Fashion.") The title refers to the New York designer Kenneth Cole, which demonstrates Verena’s interests in fashion as a socio-cultural signifier.
